Our website is dedicated to things that we find very helpful in our day to day work with our students. One problem that we have been having is that we serve a very diverse set of students both in age (3-22) and in need (typically developing preschoolers- students with multiple and complex cognitive and physical disabilities. A challenge that we have been having is how do you serve this wide range with the same equipment and less than 5 minutes to change the set up. We have just acquired new tables that we feel will help us in this endeavor. They are called "Uplift tables" and are designed to allow people to sit and stand at their workstations. We have found that they also allow for a variety of wheelchair types and sizes to be able to all use the same work surface. They are allowing pre k students to sit at a comfortable height and also some of our teen students who work better standing to use the same desk. Additionally, they are powered so the transition between the two happens in a few seconds. There are also a variety of accessories that also assist in adapting for individual students including monitor mounts and ipad stands. We are very excited about this addition to our lab and wanted to share another idea that is working for us.
